Bakat memasak yang diturunkan oleh ibu dan neneknya, telah membantu Kus Folkers menghidupi diri dan kedua anaknya, setelah suaminya meninggal. Dari berbisnis catering, hingga akhirnya menempuh pendidikan formal memasak, Kus yang tinggal di Chicago, Illinois, kini berhasil meniti karir sebagai Executive Chef dan Direktur Food and Beverage di sebuah jaringan hotel ternama.
